I think it was around this time that I went to the Melbourne StitchNBitch at the Borders in the Jam Factory. They are extraordinary knitters. I've yet to get involved in knitting meetuups in my own home town although I did go to two at the beginning of the year. One day I'll go to a north county meetup unless I hear the siren song of knitting at home on the couch first.

So what have I knit? Sophie, by Julie Anderson for Black Sheep Bags out of Patons Classic Wool in Red. I used about 1.5 skeins and modified the pattern
slightly. I roughly followed the pattern. I cast on 55 stitches for the base and knit 38 rows for the base and then picked up stitches around the base to
start the sides. I decreased as the pattern described loosely every 10 rows for 60 rows and then knit a ittle bit more before I cast off. The strap is of two 3-stitch icord twisted as described in the pattern. Here she is prefelted.

Over the Holiday weekend I also sold some lampwork beads on EBay. Yeah!
Thanks for all the bids. I made new presentation cards for the beads. I like the drk green simple cards the best. I'll continue to experiment because I want to incorporate the logo (courtesy of EE) that is on the light green card and my website info.

I made a bunch of beads on the weekend. Here's a sample of what comes out of the kiln. You'd be surprised on how much time can be spent making beads. These beads probably took about three hours to make. I am a pretty slow maker of beads. I put a bunch for sale on ebay starting Thanksgiving Day. I am always a little sad to see my sets go but then I hope the person who gets them makes something cool with them.

Here are some quick pics of the yarn I picked up to make Better-Than-Booties Baby Socks by Ann Budd from Interweave Knits Summer 2005 for a baby gift. I hope to work on these socks tomorrow in between cooking and eating.

We headed down to the Encinitas Street Fair today and while I was there I picked up some yarn to make Better-Than-Booties Baby Socks by Ann Budd from Interweave Knits Summer 2005 for a baby gift. The pattern specifies Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock and although one of the LYSs, Common Threads, had this kind of yarn, it wasn't the right color so I got some Lang Sock Yarn in a blue tweed. Just in case the kid is allergic to wool I got a baby blue cotton from the other LYS, The Black Sheep.

Progress Report 111405

Progress Report:

1) Purchased Yarn for, Knit and Felted...another pair of Monster Slippers from StitchNBitch Nation. This time in Lotus Pink Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride Bulky and Violet Fun Fur.

2) Knitted one skein of Kid Silk Haze for a total of almost one repeat of the pattern for
Birch from Rowan #?

3) Started another Felted bag. This time a solid red bag based on Sophie, by Julie Anderson for Black Sheep Bags (I can't find the link right now). The is my Car Knitting project. The wool is Patons Classic Merino that I got from Ebay. Good news for me, Michaels carries this yarn now. Whoohoo!!

4) I have finished the bag I was knitting out of Charcoal Lambs Pride worsted that I wrote about last time. I used US 7 needles and 3.5 skeins. I have named it the
TULIP BAG. I started increasing somewhere around the middle and added a Three Way FruFru Ruffle. Two things: I thought I would get more ruffle and I would do the increases a little different if I make another bag like this.  For this bag I increased one stitch before the marker on each corner. This is fine for the shape of the bag cause the increases don't show up after felting but caused a little problem with symmetry. I had to move the straps after felting cause they were off a bit.
