Modular Knits and Luxury Knits

I love my library. I love how I can pick out a book online to place a hold and renew my books online. Last visit I picked up Modular knits by Iris Schreirer and Luxury Knits by Amanda Griffiths.

Modular Knits by Iris Schreier

I like the idea that this book presents of knitting various shapes and in various directions with no ends to sew. The author uses a lot of knitting abbreviations that I haven't seen before. For instance, s2psso means slip 2 stitches and pass first slipped stitch over the second slipped stitch. If/when I made a project from this book I would start with a felted purse using her techniques but not necessarily one of the designs in the book.

Luxury Knits by Amanda Griffiths

This book has a bunch of regular knitting patterns. By regular I mean a garter stitch scarf, a pillow, a v-neck sweater and other ordinary projects. However the yarn specified for each project is beautiful and looks yummy in all the photographs. The projects I like are some simple socks of Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran, the v-neck sweater of Classic Cashsoft and a lace cardigan and camisole of Jaeger Matchmaker Merino.

Sigh. So many things I want to make. But...Must. Finish. Projects. Already. Have.

New Blog Format

Long ago I posted that I wanted to use a blogging software to make posting entries easier. So now i have finally figured out how to get MovableType that comes with YahooWebHosting and now I need to figure out how to use it. First thing I learned: save new entries before clicking willy nilly on other buttons.

I really did not knit anything of consequence all summer. Why? Too hot and too pregnant! I want to restart knitting with a small project. So it will be broadripple socks from Knitty.com with Treking XXL in colorway 100. I will post a photo when I figure out how.
